Hason Ward has committed to Iowa State from VCU. The 6'9" forward averaged 6.5 PPG and 4.8 RPG in just over 20 minutes last season. In 2020-21, Ward averaged 6.4 PPG and 5.1 RPG in just over 21 minutes per game. He is an interior minded player, and someone who can score and defend in the post. He shot over 55% from the field for the past few seasons, and around 70% from the free throw line. He is an interior force Iowa State desperately needs with the departure of Enaruna and Conditt. This is a great pickup for TJ and staff, however they are still looking for a perimeter scorer.
Here are some 2019 highlights from Ward in High School. He showed his high flying presence on the court and did show some outside game that we haven't seen much of at the college level.
Here is the commitment post from Ward via his instagram:

Temple Guard Jeremiah Williams Transfers to Iowa State

4/4/2022

Comments

Info and Background:

Redshirt Freshman guard Jeremiah Williams will be coming to Ames after one season at Temple. The Chicago Natives time at temple went well where he has played 30+ minutes both seasons for the Owls. He also averaged 9+ points per game, 3.5 rebounds per game and over 4 Assists per game during both seasons. He shoots around 65% from the free throw line and shot 32% from three point range during the 2019-20 season while that number dropped to 21% last season. He defensive efficiency has grown greatly over the last year, where he increased his steals per game from 1.2 to 1.4 and his blocks per game over doubled from 0.3 to 0.7. Here are some high school highlights from the Nike EYBL circuit:

What this Means for ISU:

Williams fits perfectly in coach Otz's defensive scheme. He does join a loaded back court for the Cyclones with Tyrese Hunter, Caleb Grill, possibly Gabe Kalschuer (if he returns) and the 3 incoming freshman guards, Lipsey, King and Watson. It will be interesting to see how this effects the back court next season.  Tyrese Hunters and Williams are both great passers so it will be interesting to see how the point guard duties pan out. Blake Hinson Commits to ISU

6/24/2020

Ole Miss guard Blake Hinson has committed to the Cyclones. During Hinson's sophomore campaign, the guard averaged just over 10 PPG and 4.6 RPG. The 6-7 guard also averaged 1.4 APG while shooting nearly 40 percent from the field. Before his time at Ole Miss, Hinson attended Sunrise Christian in Withita, Kansas where he was the 144th ranked player in the class of 2018 by 247 Sports. He had offers from plenty of schools, including Clemson, Florida State, and Georgia Tech.
Prohm lands another potential transfer who will have to sit this upcoming year, unless granted a waiver from the NCAA. Whether Hinson plays this year or next for the Cyclones, his length as a 6-7 guard will surely help the Cyclones on both sides of the ball. He shoots in the low 30s from three point range, something hopefully Hinson can improve on in his time in Ames.

Depaul guard Jalen Coleman-Lands Commits to the Cyclones

Jalen Coleman-Lands has committed to the Cyclones. The former DePaul guard averaged over 11 points per game last season. He also added 2.7 RPG and 1.2 APG. The 6'4" guard has always been a strong scorer, averaging over 10 points during his whole career at Depaul. He transferred to DePaul after committing to Illinois in 2015 and playing his freshman season for the Fighting Illini. He was a highly recruited 4 star when he chose Illinois, choosing them over UNLV and Notre Dame. The Indianapolis product will be immediately eligible after being granted a 6th year of eligibility this past year. Coleman-Lands is a very strong edition to the Cyclone backcourt. It is nice to see the Cyclones land another solid guard to compliment Tyler Harris (pending info about his eligibility) after missing out on many targets after the Cyclones were named finalists.
Coleman had many big games, here is one against Big 12 Opponent Texas Tech, where he poured in 18 points:
As we look closer at Coleman-Lands skillset, heres a game winner from his time as a freshman at Illinois:
Coleman-Lands also torched Iowa this latest season, dropping 17 points and 5 Assists. Here are the highlights of Coleman-Lands and DePual obliterating Iowa:

Former Memphis Guard Tyler Harris has committed to Iowa State. Harris, a 4 star recruit out of High School was recruited by ISU but chose Memphis. Harris was ranked 131st nationally and the 2nd best play in Tennessee by 247 Sports coming out of High School. At Memphis, Harris averaged 8.7 PPG to go along with 1.8 RPG during his sophomore campaign. He will join Rasir Bolton and Tre Jackson in ISU's backcourt and is the big transfer Steve Prohm needed. It will be interesting to see if more targeted transfer guards choose ISU in the upcoming few days. As of now, Harris is a Sit-out transfer, but I assume he will apply for immediate eligibility.
