Joey Petersen Commits to the Cyclones

Joey Petersen has committed to Iowa State. The class of 2021 wide defensive end is ranked by 247 Sports as the 22nd ranked player in Iowa. He is also ranked as the number 96 WDE in the nation. The in state prospect, who is brothers with Iowa State star DE Zach Petersen, was offered on an unofficial visit to Ames on November 16, 2019. 247 Sports only rates Petersen as a 2 star and does not fall within the top 1500 players in the country for his class, but we all know the success Campbell and staff has with lower rated recruits.
We also know the good genes and great work ethic the Petersen brothers possess. Joey Peterson from North Scott High in Eldridge, Iowa definitely has a chance to be something great on the ISU defensive line. Petersen is the second football commitment of the month of July for the class of 2021. The 2021 commitments have slowed down since May and June, where we saw double digit football commits.
