Speed Recap-Iowa State knocks off Iowa

Recap

Iowa State has finally brought the Cy-Hawl Trophy back to Ames. It was an ugly game, with both teams fumbling a yard away from the end zone. Iowa State's special teams continued to be a problem, with multiple punts blocked. The Cyclone defense and defensive coordinator Jon Heacok looked amazing, with the defensive line for the Cyclones making a huge stride from last week's routing of SEMO. MJ Anderson looked unstoppable at times, paired with Will McDonald and Gerry Vaugn. The secondary looked strong again and had Iowa's quarterback, Spencer Petras, looking as bad as ever. Xavier Hutchinson led the Cyclones again on the receiving side with some help from Jaylin Noel. Hutchinson finished with 11 catches for 98 yards and a score.

Wide Receiver Aidan Bitter also had an insane catch for the Cyclones:

Jirehl Brock also tallied a 100-yard game, looking like Breece Hall with the patience he showed all day. The Cyclones still have some work to do, especially on the offensive side with a few route-running communication problems. You saw this with Dekkers second interception with a route miscommunication for receiver Jaylin Noel. Iowa State will look to continue to improve as they welcome Ohio to Jack Trice Stadium next weekend.
