4/27/2022

The NFL Draft starts on Thursday, April 28 and continues through Saturday April 30th. Here are some Cyclones to watch for who are projected to be drafted:

Breece Hall (RB)- Round 1/2

Picture
Breece Hall looks like the sure Number 1 running back on Draft Boards heading into the NFL Draft. Breece was dominant for the Cyclones for multiple years, putting together back to back seasons with over 1700  yards and over 20 total touchdowns.
His 4.39 40 yard dash and overall dominance of the combine has cemented him in that position.  Here is his 40 yard dash:
Many believe Breece could go in the late first round, with a possible landing spot being the Bills at pick number 25 in the first round. If he does not go in the late first, look for him to go early in the second round on day 2.

Charlie Kolar (TE)- Round 3/4

Charlie Kolar is the 5th ranked TE on the board by NFL.com. NFL Mock Draft Database has Kolar going in the 4th round to start off day 3 of the NFL Draft. Don't be surprised if Kolar goes in the 3rd round on day 2, due to ability to have an immediate impact in the NFL as a passing catching tight end. He was great at that for the Cyclones with over 2100 yards and 23 touchdowns over his career at Iowa State.

Eyioma Uwazurike (DT)- Round 5

Uwazurike has been a beast on the defensive line for the Cylones during his time in Ames. During the latest 2022 season, the Detroit native recorded 43 total tackles to go along with 9 total sacks. NFL Mock Draft Database has Uwazurike going in the 5th round. He is the 7th highest rated DT by NFL.com so do not be surprised if you see Eyioma get selected earlier than the 5th round.

Mike Rose (LB)- Round 5/6

Rose is a do it all inside line backer. He had over 70 tackles over all four years with the Cyclones and added a five interception season in 2020. He had the tools to be a top linebacker in the NFL with great speed and quickness. NFL mock draft database lists rose as a projected 6th round pick. NFL.com lists rose as the 17th best linebacker on the board.

Jake Hummel (LB) - Rounds 5-7

Hummel was another staple in the Cyclones defense. He registered 77 total tackles in 2020 and 80 total tackles in 2021. He has elite agility and speed that was show cased during his pro day. Most online sources do not have him ranked high due to his late surge making him a huge question mark of where he will get drafted, but NFL scouts love Hummel.

Iowa St LB Jake Hummel is visiting the #Bears today after visiting the #Vikings last week. He’s been busy with meetings & workouts since a Pro Day where his 4.50 forty would have ranked 4th among LBs, his 6.85 3-cone would have ranked 1st, and his 4.28 20-yd shuttle ranked 2nd.

 Brock Purdy (QB)- Late Rounds/Undrafted

Brock Purdy was a program changer for Iowa State. He led the Cyclones to their first New Years 6 Bowl Win, and is now looking towards his pro career. He has most of the passing records in Iowa State history and looks to be another Cyclone QB in the NFL. NFL.com lists Brock as the 14th best QB in the draft class. According to NFL Mock Draft Database, they have Purdy as one of the top prospects to go undrafted.

Chase Allen (TE)- Late Rounds/Undrafted

Chase Allen was another program changer for Iowa State. He was in Ames for over 5 seasons and had over 800 career receiving yards and 6 touchdowns. Allen was also an amazing blocker in the run game and could definitely carve out a solid role in the NFL. Look for Allen to be a top undrafted signee if he doens't get his name during the draft.
