The St. Bonaventure star has dominated the defensive side of the ball in the Atlantic 10 conference for years.  Osunniyi won back to back defensive player of the year awards in the conference, and made multiple All-Conference teams. The 6'10" center has averaged over 2.5 blocks in each of his 4 seasons with the Bonnies, and averaged 2.9 blocks per game the last two seasons during his defensive player of the year seasons. This past 2021-22 season, Osunniyi averaged 11.3 points per game and 7.5 rebounds per game. He also shot over 64 percent from the free throw line. Here are his season highlights from 2019-20:
Osun is teaming up with Jaren Holmes, which was another star on the St. Bonaventure team last year. The already built chemistry between those two will hopefully get Iowa State rolling this offseason and the beginning of next season. Osunniyi is the defensive anchor Iowa State needs and has been working on an already improving offensive game that will help Iowa State greatly next season. He looks like he will be a huge piece for the Cyclones while using his last year of eligibility in Ames, and looks like he will be an instant starter in TJ's lineup.
