Iowa State guard Gabe Kalscheur is returning to Iowa State. He averaged 9.6 points per game, 2.4 rebounds per game and 1.7 assists per game. He was one of the best defenders in the nation last year and will help Iowa State greatly. Here was his announcement:
Iowa State star point guard Tyrese Hunter has entered the transfer portal. The freshman guard averaged 11 points per game last year, along with 3.5 rebounds per game an 4.9 assists. All the speculation turns out to be true, and Hunter will be one of the top names in the portal with tons of eligibility left. In hindsight, the move to get Jeremiah Williams have been to replace Tyrese Hunter. This opens up lots of playing time and options for Iowa State to look for more players in the portal. Tyrese was one of the main guys on a special team for Iowa State, reaching the sweet 16. This is the first time that NIL has really left a lasting impact on Iowa State, but at the end of the day Hunter is doing what is best for him and his family. Release from Tyrese:
Iowa State Guard Aubrey Joens is transferring from Iowa State. The guard for Iowa State averaged just over 6 points per game and nearly 5 rebounds last season in just over 20 minutes a game. Here is her release on twitter:
Iowa Forward/Center Audi Crooks has committed to ISU. She was a highly touted prospect and won a state championship this year with Bishop Garrigan High School in Iowa. She is ranked as the #58 prospect in the class of 2023, and has become an internet sensation with her highlights.
Cyclone Forward Aljaz Kunc is returning to the Cyclones for his Covid year of eligibility. The forward averaged 6 PPG and 4.1 RPG while shooting nearly 42% from the field and a team high 38.9% from three point range. Kunc came to Ames from Washington State a season ago.

The contract details are unknown set but the Bulls have signed former Cyclone Sharpshooter Matt Thomas who has played overseas, for the Toronto Raptors and for the Chicago Bulls.
Iowa State has parted ways with men's basketball coach Steve Prohm after 6 seasons. Prohm won multiple Big 12 titles and made a sweet sixteen appearance during those years. However, he struggled to win with his own recruits including a 2-22 record this past season. He also failed to win a conference game this past season. Iowa State will pay out over 5 million to Prohm and start the search for a new coach.
Iowa State overcomes a slow start and beats 0-4 Jackson State. Iowa State went down 9-2 to start the game but bought back with a 6 point lead at half. They were steady in the second half and won by 15. The Cyclones were led by Solomon Young with 18. Iowa State improves to 2-4 (0-2 Big 12).
The Philadelphia Eagles have signed former Cyclone standout Hakeem Butler to their active roster from the Carolina Panther's practice squad. With the Injury of Dallas Goedert, Hakeem Butler will play the tight end role for the Eagles. Look for Butler to get some snaps as soon as Sunday Night!
Jamie Pollard announced Thursday that Iowa State will allow 15,000 fans into their Big 12 Home Opener vs. Oklahoma on October 3rd. This is big news after Iowa State decided on no fans for the opening loss. Before disallowing fans, they settled on a number of 25,000 which is higher than the new number the established for the game on October 3rd. In the letter, it was also announced that Iowa State will allow 1,000 student tickers per game and Jr. Cyclone Club general admission tickets will not be valid this season and refunds are awarded.
