Jamie Pollard announced Thursday that Iowa State will allow 15,000 fans into their Big 12 Home Opener vs. Oklahoma on October 3rd. This is big news after Iowa State decided on no fans for the opening loss. Before disallowing fans, they settled on a number of 25,000 which is higher than the new number the established for the game on October 3rd. In the letter, it was also announced that Iowa State will allow 1,000 student tickers per game and Jr. Cyclone Club general admission tickets will not be valid this season and refunds are awarded.

Iowa State Announces No Fans at Opener

Jamie Pollard announced Iowa State will not allow fans into Jack Trice Stadium for Iowa State's home opener against Louisiana on September 12th.  A 25,000 fan limit, which is about 40 percent of Jack Trice's normal capacity, was released on Monday for the opening game, but then the University changed their mind on Wednesday. Iowa State will make their decisions game by game, but it is certain that mask mandate and other health measures will be enforced. Pollard also says that everyone must follow the guidelines when fans return to the stadium, and the lack of guidelines followed could result in Iowa State not welcoming any more fans into Jack Trice Stadium for the rest of the season.

This comes shortly after the Big 12 released a revised schedule for all teams. Iowa State will open up on the road at TCU on September 26th for Big 12 play. Their first home Big 12 game will take place the next week, where they take on Oklahoma at Jack Trice.

The Big 10 is supposed to announce a conference only schedule for their football season (per report), meaning the Cy-Hawk rivalry between ISU and Iowa will be cancelled. The game was supposed to take place on September 12th in Iowa City. Other conferences are expected to announce a ten game conference only schedule. There is a good chance the Big-12 will follow in doing so. There has been nothing on a possibility of the game being rescheduled, I will keep everyone updated with new reports.
